Praline Fudge Cake Recipe

Pralines and Chocolate? Yes, please!

INGREDIENTS FOR CAKE:

  • 1 CUP BUTTER
  • 1/4 CUP COCOA
  • 1 CUP WATER
  • 1/2 CUP MILK
  • SQUEEZE OF LEMON JUICE
  • 2 LARGE EGGS
  • 1 TSP BAKING SODA
  • 1 TSP VANILLA EXTRACT
  • 2 CUPS CANE SUGAR
  • 2 CUPS FLOUR
  • 1/2 TSP SALT

INGREDIENTS FOR PRALINE FROSTING & TOPPING:

  • 1/4 C BUTTER
  • 1 C BROWN SUGAR
  • 1 C CONF. SUGAR
  • 1/3 C HEAVY WHIPPING CREAM
  • 1 TSP VANILLA
  • 1 C PECANS
  • 1 C NEW ORLEANS FAMOUS PRALINES (CRUSHED)

DIRECTIONS:

COMBINE WET AND DRY INGREDIENTS SEPARATELY. THEN COMBINE. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES IN SEPARATE ROUND PANS. 22-24 MINUTES. LET COOL. 

THE FUN PART! THE PRALINE FUDGE FROSTING! 

  1. Combine the butter, brown sugar and whipping cream in a 2 quart saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring often.
  2. Boil 1 min; remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla.
  3. Add the pecans and New Orleans Famous Pralines (We love the chocolate flavor in this recipe, but the classic and creamy will be equally mouth-watering!) stir gently for 2-5 minutes, or until the frosting begins to cool and thicken slightly.
  4. Pour immediately over the cake.
